The Michaëlle Jean Foundation and the Fresh Voices team have teamed up to launch the first awards to recognize excellence in using the arts to facilitate the integration of refugee, migrant and immigrant youth in Canada.
We are making two $1,000 bursaries available to two young people who have used the arts to significantly improve the quality of life for newcomers in Canada.
The award is part of the Fresh Voices initiative and Michaëlle Jean Foundation’s 4th Wall: Make the Invisible Visible program, with sponsorship support from Telus.
Join us on October 2, 2015 to celebrate the achievements of immigrant and refugee youth at our gala dinner evening.
The awards support young newcomers, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds, who want to enhance their skills and capacity to use various artistic and cultural engagement mediums to address social, cultural and economic issues of concern in their communities such as: education and learning, immigration, family, and building bridges and working in solidarity across diverse communities.
Completed nominations (including additional supporting documents) must be received by 4:30pm PST (1:30 pm EST) on Wednesday September 16th, 2015.
