We proudly announced the winners of the 2015 Fresh Voices B.C. Awards and the 2015 National Fresh Voices Artivism Award to a packed crowd of young people, community members, business leaders and elected officials at Vancouver’s Terminal City Club.
The 2015 awards recognize the amazing talents, knowledge, and contribution that young immigrants and refugees make in areas such as education, family, cultural diversity, immigration, culture and the arts, across diverse communities.
“We work with an amazing and inspiring group of young immigrants and refugees who volunteer their time to find ways to make BC and Canada more welcoming to newcomers,” said Vancouver Foundation Director of Grants and Community Initiatives Vi Nguyen. “These awards celebrate the fact that so many young people are actively helping immigrants and refugees settle in our communities.”
Fresh Voices, in partnership with MOSAIC and Vancity, awarded the 2015 Fresh Voices B.C. Awards to the following young people in recognition of their inspiration and leadership of immigrant and refugee youth in British Columbia working to advance social and systemic change.
Fresh Voices, in partnership with the Michaëlle Jean Foundation and TELUS, awarded the 2015 National Fresh Voices Artivism Award to the following young people who have demonstrated innovation, excellence and impact in using the arts and/or cultural engagement to address issues of concern in newcomer communities in Canada.
